Chicago Department of Health: Swine Influenza Update 18H1N1 swine influenza activity has resulted in sporadic infections among healthcare workers (HCWs) at several Chicago institutions. Despite adherence to isolation precautions in the hospital setting, vigilant HCWs may still be exposed to H1N1 in the communities where they live. CMS medical students hosted a town hall forum on Jan. 21 at Northwestern University’s downtown campus to discuss issues, expectations and perspectives on health care reform. Answering questions from nearly 100 students, four panelists shared their views on the public option, insurance reform, rationing and other issues that will affect students in the not-so-distant future.
The CMS-sponsored event was open to members of the Student District, Resident District, and the Young Physicians Group. What better way for future physicians to network than over a friendly game of pool?Camaraderie was in fine form for these students.
Dear Colleague: CMS is saddened and disappointed by the Illinois Supreme Court’s decision today to overrule the state’s hard-fought cap on non-economic damages in medical liability cases. Saddened and disappointed not only for physicians, but for our patients as well.
