Request For Physician Volunteers
March 20, 2020
Dear Colleague:
Governor Pritzker recently called for our support in identifying retired physicians who are able and willing to help build capacity in the healthcare delivery system and hospitals.
As such, I’m calling upon our retired physicians to reply to this email if you are able and willing to help us battle this virus. We will assist in communicating your availability to the governor’s office.
The state will expedite licensing and waive fees for physicians who have recently left the field to “come back and join the fight,” the governor said.
“This is hero’s work,” Governor Pritzker said. “All of you have our deepest gratitude for your willingness to serve.”
For any physicians concerned about COVID-19 exposure, retired professionals can be used in various ways in other aspects of healthcare that then relieves frontline workers or allows workers at lower risk to move to the frontlines.
Please let us know if you are available.
We continue to support the healthcare delivery system and our physicians fighting on the frontlines.
Sincerely,
