Past President Kenneth G. Busch, MD 2014 - 2015
Kenneth G. Busch, MD, is a board-certified Chicago psychiatrist. He is a graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine, and completed his internship at Evanston Hospital and his residency at the Northwestern Institute of Psychiatry.
Dr. Busch has been in private practice since 1975, and is currently on staff at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. With a special interest in public policy, Dr. Busch has consulted nationally with the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Dr. Busch has served the Illinois Psychiatric Society (IPS) in many capacities. He currently serves as Chair of the IPS Government Affairs Committee and Illinois representative to the Assembly of the American Psychiatric Association. He has previously served as IPS President and Treasurer.
Dr. Busch’s research interests have focused on professionalism and ethics, youth violence, terrorism and national security issues. He has published widely in these areas and has given many presentations locally, nationally and internationally.
He has served the Chicago Medical Society in many capacities, including as chairman of the Board of Trustees and as secretary. A former CMS branch councilor and district president, Dr. Busch has been a trustee to the Illinois State Medical Society (ISMS) and a delegate to ISMS House of Delegates. He previously served as chair of the ISMS Council on Medical Service and is currently serving on the ISMS delegation to the American Medical Association (AMA).
Dr. Busch also serves in community leadership roles. He is chair of both the Health Care Advisory Committee for U.S. Rep. Mike Quigley and the Mental Health Advisory Committee for U.S. Rep. Danny K. Davis.
